About Us
Bountiful Eye Care is a 52 year old optometric practice that specializes in comprehensive family eye care. Our practice treats patients of all ages and needs. This practice was founded in 1961 by Dr. Gerald Robinson. Dr. Robinson is from Price, Utah. Following his graduation from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove Oregon, Dr. Robinson chose to return to Utah to start his private practice.
Dr. Robinson has been a respected and beloved member of the health care community here in Bountiful for many years. When he retired from private practice in 2004, Dr. Robinson left a legacy of warm and caring eyecare which continues today and is what makes Bountiful Eye Care special. |
Dr. Robert Wilkes is a native of Rexburg, Idaho. After Dr. Wilkes completed his undergraduate studies in Idaho and Oregon, he received his doctorate with distinction from Pacific Unversity College of Optometry. Following his graduation, he worked in a private practice in Burley, Idaho for one year prior to coming to Bountiful. Dr. Wilkes brings some special abilities to his practice. He feels that in many aspects, health care has become too impersonal. Recognizing and remembering the patient and their family adds to the accuracy and effectiveness of the care Dr. Wilkes is able to provide. This approach also makes a visit to our office pleasant for both the patient and Dr. Wilkes.
Dr. Wilkes feels that eye care should be very personal and tailored to the needs of each individual patient. For example, a truck driver has different visual needs than a school teacher would. Contact lenses for a sales representative will be used in an environment that is different than contact lenses worn by a computer programmer. A young woman in her child bearing years has different tears, when compared to a 50 year old female. All of these factors need to be considered in an effort to help each patient achieve the most clear comfortable vision possible. Dr. Wilkes works to understand the unique visual needs of every patient.
Dr. Wilkes and his wife Suzanne are the parent of 4 sons. They lived in Bountiful for the first 8 years he practiced here and then purchased a small farm in South Davis County where they have a variety of livestock that, according to the Wilkes boys, provide an endless supply of "yucky chores". Dr. Wilkes and his family enjoy camping in Utah's great national parks.
